Up until now I have had a general homeopathic practice and whilst I love the diversity that type of practice has to offer, one thing continued to bug me.

I was increasingly seeing women come in with a host of different problems all saying the same thing: “The doctors can’t do anything to help, they have offered me antidepressants but I really don’t want to take them”.

Don’t get me wrong, this is not an attack on doctors or the use of antidepressants.  And I wholeheartedly believe in the NHS and the amazing job they do bearing in mind how woefully under-funded they are.

However, I do question how one can get the best quality of care when the average GP appointment time is less than 10 minutes.  When medical school does not include any nutritional training.  And when pharmaceutical industries have such a huge influence in medical education, training and general care.

But I digress!

Antidepressants are not a solution for period irregularities, peri-menopausal symptoms, weight gain, digestive disturbances, acne, weaken pelvic floor, thinning hair, anxiety, energy or sleep issues.  Often these symptoms can indicate a hormonal imbalance.

When time is taken to understand what is really going on for a person, to offer the space for someone to be heard, to take the time to piece everything together, looking at root causes rather than just prescribing a medication on each symptom, real and lasting change can happen.

And whilst homeopathy can do a lot to help, and in many cases alleviate symptoms altogether, I feel that lifestyle changes are crucial to long sustained hormonal health.  And this is what I saw was needed for these women who were coming into my clinic.  So I set about finding out how to become a hormone specialist.

My criteria were: having a deeper understanding of the endocrine system, the role of each individual hormone together with how they in turn affect one another, a greater understanding of hormonal conditions, how lifestyle affects hormonal health and how to heal imbalances with nutrition.

I found the Institute of Transformation Nutrition who offered a certified hormone specialist course. I was instantly hooked.  Not only did it cover my criteria wish list but also the psychology and spirituality of hormone imbalance.  This was of real interest to me as it covers elements of how I would look at imbalance as a homeopath.  So I signed up and now, many late nights later, I am a certified hormone specialist.

I am super excited to share my knowledge with you.  So if you are reading this and thinking you would like to find out more, why not book a free 15-minute discovery call today.
